Dr. Ram K Nair, MRCS (Surgery), MACEM, FRCEM (London)

Dr Ram K Nair is a consultant emergency physician and trauma specialist, currently based in Karnataka, India. He was an Emergency Medicine consultant in the National Health Service (NHS) United Kingdom. He has served as Lead Clinician for Pre-Hospital Trauma, IT Integration and Post Graduate training. Later, he became the Trauma Director of the organization.

He was an instructor for Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) and Focused Abdominal Scanning in Trauma (FAST) Courses. He also served as the Course Director in many of these training programmes.

A popular face in the faculty circles of Indian and International EM conferences, Dr Nair is currently working in the NGO sector, enabling the Primary Care Providers with effective, evidence based skills to deal with emergencies/disasters and equipping the Tertiary Trauma Centers to provide state of the art emergency care in India. 

Under the “RGUHS JeevaRaksha Project” he has conceptualized and set up a model emergency department at Vivekananda Memorial Hospital, a 100 bed secondary level health facility in rural Mysore district. He has developed and established systems to conduct high quality Emergency Care Training for health care providers at this Hospital and other medical colleges in Karnataka.

Dr Ram Nair has taken up the first CEO position of JeevaRaksha Trust, Bengaluru, to promote emergency medical training and high quality emergency healthcare provision  across India and the developing world.
