Dr.(Flt Lt).M.A.Balasubramanya is an Advisor of Community Processes and Comprehensive Primary Health Care, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. He is an Anaesthesiologist and social worker. At 17, inspired by the teachings of Swami Vivekananda joined a group of medico friends who founded in 1984, the nationally acclaimed registered non-profit organisation - Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement. The organisation now serves directly more than 3 million people through its 9 institutions and 43 programs in Health, Education, Socio-economic empowerment, Training and Research. In April 2018, he successfully transitioned the operational leadership to a second-generation team of 5. Presently, he is the Secretary of the Organisation. He has played a key role in Rehabilitation and Resettlement of forest-based tribes of HD Kote Taluk in Mysuru District of Karnataka in South India. He has pioneered public-private partnership initiatives, some of which are National Models in the sectors of Health, especially HIV/AIDS, Emergency Medicine, Palliative Care and Non-Profit Management. He has been a member of various planning and policy committees at the National Government, State Government, and Academic bodies of various Universities. He is the Founder Managing Trustee of JeevaRaksha Trust, a co-creation of Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.
